Innovative concepts at ZOW 2013:
Future-oriented topics and new functionalities
The practical transfer of knowledge is one of ZOW’s particular strong points. For the tradeshow‘s 19th edition, its visitors from the furniture industry and interior design can look forward to the product, concepts and process ideas of the upcoming season. ZOW’s wide range will be rounded off by the focal areas RFID radio technology, lightweight furniture construction and up-and-coming supplier companies from Germany.
RFID for the furniture process chain
New furniture logistics are currently a hot topic of the industry. At ZOW 2013, RFID technology will be used to show how conflicts involving loading ramps can be minimised. At the “RFID Factory” in hall 22.1, everything will revolve around the RFID radio technology. The visitors will be able to trace the journey of furniture packaging parts along the entire supply chain – from the supplier, the industry, to the transport by a logistics company and retail. At the same time, the various methods of incorporating transponders into parts will be shown. Since 2009, innovative RFID solutions have been given their own forum in Bad Salzuflen.
IgeL forum: New impetus for intelligent lightweight furniture construction
Lightweight and hybrid concepts count on future-oriented impetus in the furniture industry and interior design. Intelligent engineering solutions are needed, which link innovative material concepts with new functions, thus creating a significant added value in furniture construction. At the “igeL-Forum” in hall 22.1., members of Interessengemeinschaft Leichtbau e.V. – igeL (www.igel-ev.net) [German Lightweight Construction Interest Group] will introduce recent developments and demonstrate their specialised know-how of materials and processes.
Innovative surface technology: Timber coating day on 21 February
Further developments in the technology for the treatment of wood and wooden materials belong to the primary topics of the European furniture industry. In the past four years, the latest developments of this field have been presented on the last day of ZOW. On this day, DFO e.V., the German Research Association for Surface Treatment (www.dfo.info), invites all participants from the fields of furniture construction and mechanical engineering, who professionally deal with surface treatment to “Timber Coating Day”. Among the topics are new effect lacquers and surface types that use foil technology. In 2013, the event will take place 21 February in the ZOW symposium hall.
New suppliers in hall 20
For up-and-coming supplier companies, participating in ZOW can constitute an important stepping stone on the way into the international furniture market. The national newcomers will also showcase themselves at the joint BAFA exhibition space in hall 20 and provide exciting product developments in the categories surfaces, mounting parts and systems, semi-finished parts, chemical products, processing machines and software solutions. For the sixth time in a row, ZOW has been added to the trade fair program for young innovative companies for international trade fairs in Germany. This promotion program by the German ministry for economy and technology (BMWi) grants new companies exhibiting at ZOW 2013 a refund of up to 80% of their trade fair expenditures.
