iFurn celebrates 1st birthday at ZOW in Bad Salzuflen
Exhibition stand with interactive elements
This year, iFurn’s stand at ZOW in Bad Salzuflen
(9 to 12 February 2009) focuses fully on interaction. The team deployed by the databroker for furniture design and interiors has created a very special meeting point in the form of the iFurn lounge. The lounge is intended for users and suppliers to hold discussions, swap their experiences and consider problems and solutions directly with the iFurn data specialists. Like last year, iFurn will be running a competition for guests to its stand B20 in Hall 21.
One year ago precisely, iFurn was launched at the very same location. It was during ZOW 2008 that the data portal went live and attracted close to 1250 users right at the outset. Since then the number of users has risen to around 2500. Interested visitors will of course again find the registration desk and info counter on the iFurn stand every day of the exhibition. The lounge area, where the community spirit really comes to the fore, is where users and suppliers and anyone else who’s interested can talk shop in a relaxed atmosphere. Guests can also go go-kart racing with “Mario” on a Wii games console. The person with the fastest time at the end of ZOW will get to take the console home with him as the first prize.
Even more data, even more features
In its first year of business iFurn has become an even more attractive option as more suppliers and software partners now support the data portal; after all users always need the right link to applications in order to process data. Interfaces to imos CAD, OSD, 20-20 Enterprise Manufacturing Solutions, PinnCalc DaVinci and Corpora4U are currently all available. What’s more iFurn now provides data for the following companies:
Eltec (furniture and post-forming elements)
Hailo (modular kitchens),
Halemeier (lighting systems),
HWB (veneers, timber materials),
MS-Schuon (fronts, furniture elements)
Pfleiderer (timber materials),
Rehau (edge tapes),
Schock Metallwerk (drawer runners),
Tente (castors for furniture),
Thermopal (timber materials, coatings),
Vauth-Sagel (modular systems),
VD works (fronts, reliefs),
Wodego (timber materials).
During the spring, data from Egger will also be added. The Tirol-based (Austria) company covers everything you could possibly need between the floor and ceiling: from raw particle boards and medium/high-density fibreboards, oriented strand boards to post- and soft-forming elements as well as complete pieces of furniture and flooring.
iFurn website offers new functions
Just in time for ZOW many of the functions on the iFurn website are being optimised to give users an even faster overview and to make even lighter work of their tasks. The layout has been brought bang up-to-date and made more user friendly while the search functions have been further enhanced. It is therefore easier and faster to access data than before and users can now log into the databroker from the homepage.
The functions in the News and iFurn view areas have been added to. From now on, users can find the very latest industry news on the iFurn website at the News spot. A joint venture with well-known specialised media provides a direct overview of the latest industry trends and developments. Before a trade fair, exhibitors can use iFurn view to display their new products, thereby providing iFurn users with specific information. The exhibitors can either create their data themselves in their own account or alternatively it can be produced by iFurn. A kind of virtual exhibition tour is being produced and added to the website in the next stage of development.
The goal of iFurn: reliable and up-to-the-minute data
iFurn’s goal is to make available data from all supplier sectors from fittings and surfaces, board materials, handles, lights and rollers to paints and adhesives and to display them in the same place. It is therefore essential that the system is able to provide the data in an up-do-date and reliable form for planning and design. New products or modifications can be added immediately and can be used as such with no delay. Speed is dovetailed with precision. iFurn therefore underlines the trend towards furniture design and its production being increasingly shaped by the innovative force and technological developments of the supplier industry.
The comprehensive search functions quickly and reliably help the user what he or she is looking for. Once the product has been found, not only does the screen provide an accurate indication of all the construction details but it also gives the user information about the accessories needed for planning and construction at a glance as well as showing him or her related or similar products from the same supplier. The alternatives available can be seen right away. The product data needed for construction, including processing, logic and principles can also be imported straight into the user’s IT applications regardless of whether he or she is using ERP, industrial software or CAD/CAM systems. The user is provided with all the products in one go without having to wade through different systems. The major benefit is that users don’t have to create and update their own data which represents a huge time saving in everyday work.
You will find iFurn at ZOW in Bad Salzuflen in Hall 21, stand B20.
