Full speed ahead at ZOW in Moscow
Supplier trade fair attracted 12 800 visitors to Expocenter
Success across the board. This year’s ZOW in Moscow, which for the second time was held in parallel to Mebel at the Expocenter, featured 160 exhibitors, including a large number of Russian suppliers, and attracted around 12 800 visitors. This a 25 % increase on the previous year. Customers from the furniture industry and interior design took the opportunity to find out about the latest new fittings, surfaces, materials and semi-finished products from suppliers at the same time as attending the Russian furniture fair – the fast way to give visitors what they want. Most of the visitors to ZOW came from Russia and the former CIS States, but there were plenty of international guests in Moscow too.
“We are delighted with this success,” says Peter H. Meyer, Managing Director of the ZOW organiser Survey Marketing + Consulting GmbH & Co. KG. “Last year we were already recording a high number of visitors but the trade fair has now finally established itself on the market.” ZOW’s workshop concept and the many individual services provided for exhibitors and visitors alike went down very well with the Russian audience. Particular mention was made of the quality of customer contacts which can be seen from the business transactions made at the trade fair. “ZOW and Mebel in one – the concept has proven itself and we will use it again in the future,” adds Meyer.
ZOW in Moscow showcased the supplier trends for the 2009 furniture season. The product ranges of fittings manufacturers displayed impressive sophisticated technology and high design quality. Zero-wear materials, hygienic coatings, space-saving widths and variable adjustment mechanisms are all the rage. Designers are increasingly making use of light as a design element. Different sources of illumination can be used to create an interesting mix of light. The trend amongst all lighting is for small products with high lighting levels, appealing light colours, as little heat radiation at possible and an extremely long service life.
In 2008 once again the MIFIC Moscow International Furniture Industry Congress ran in parallel to ZOW. The congress had an extensive range of events including workshops, discussion sessions, exhibitions and matchmaking for the international furniture business. Prominent speakers from all over the world and a high calibre audience, including prominent figures from politics and industry, make the MIFIC an important event for exhibitors and visitors year after year. The key thing is to “see and be seen”. Important contacts are often made which result in actual business deals.
The 2008 ZOW trade fair circuit comes to a close here in Moscow. Now everyone is concentrating on Bad Salzuflen, where the 15th German ZOW will take place between 9 and 12 February 2009. The next ZOW in Moscow is scheduled for 23 to 27 November 2009 – again in parallel with Mebel.
